How can an aspie avoid bullying

Gaby winced as the morning sunrays spilling in through the open shutters of the porch adjoining the living room scorched her bruised cheek. "Girls don’t hit," her mother said. "But I'll only protect…" Gaby started. "Girls don’t hit." Her mother raised her voice. The sky was a rectangle of white glare outside the shutters, wrapping itself around the yellowing leaves of the palmtops. "But it's dangerous for me to…" Gaby said. "Girls don’t hit!" Her mother yelled and slammed her fist on the table. "And it's your fault you're being picked on because you're scared of those kids, and they can feel it." Construction workers shouted to each other down below, their rough, deep voices resonating in the street that was filling up with people and cars in the early morning hour.
